Hemoterapia e hemovigilância

Abstract

Currently haemotherapy plays a core role in the health and survival of the population. In this context, this monograph approaches the entire transfusion process, from the applicable legislation in national territory, selection of donors and tests performed on donated blood, to transfusion and use of blood products, namely blood components and blood products. Haemovigilance in the world and in Portugal is also discussed, and the strategies developed by the institutions and entities at international and national levels in order to optimize the safety of the transfusion process are described. In addition, it is also elaborated a compilation of the evolution of the transfusion activity and notification of adverse reactions in Portugal, from 2009 to the present.

A hemoterapia desempenha atualmente um papel fulcral na saúde e sobrevivência da população. Neste contexto, a presente monografia aborda todo o processo transfusional, desde a legislação aplicável em território nacional, seleção dos dadores e testes realizados ao sangue doado, à transfusão e utilização dos produtos derivados do sangue, nomeadamente hemocomponentes e hemoderivados. É também abordada a hemovigilância no mundo e em Portugal, sendo descritas as estratégias desenvolvidas pelas instituições e entidades a nível internacional e nacional para otimizar a segurança do processo transfusional. É ainda efetuada uma compilação da evolução da atividade transfusional e notificação de reações adversas em Portugal, de 2009 à atualidade.
