A Harpa (1873-1876): uma revista literária do Porto oitocentista

Abstract

Fundada por Joaquim de Araújo (quando frequentava ainda o Liceu do Porto), A Harpa – de que subsistem hoje raríssimos exemplares – contou com duas séries, irregularmente publicadas entre 1873 e 1876. À semelhança de outras revistas coevas, apresentava uma linha programática indefinida, abrindo-se à multiplicidade de tendências literárias da altura, representadas por nomes como Teófilo Braga, Antero de Quental, João Penha, Guerra Junqueiro, Gonçalves Crespo, Cândido de Figueiredo, Guilherme Braga, Lopes Praça, Simões Dias, Manuel Duarte de Almeida, entre muitos outros. Tratou-se da primeira experiência jornalística de um jovem adolescente, que viria a ser depois cônsul, diretor de numerosas publicações e um dos mais intrépidos agentes dinamizadores da cultura portuguesa na Europa.
