Imunoterapia e Cancro da Mama

Abstract

O cancro da mama caracteriza-se pelo crescimento descontrolado das células do tecido mamário. Embora não exista uma causa conhecida e específica para o aparecimento desta doença, o avanço na investigação deste tipo de tumor tem demonstrado que há mulheres que apresentam um risco aumentado para o cancro da mama, que se pensa estar associado a determinados factores de risco como a idade, história familiar de cancro, alterações genéticas, raça, obesidade pós-menopausa, terapêutica hormonal de substituição, entre outros. As opções de tratamento do cancro da mama, dependem do estadio da doença, bem como da dimensão do tumor, do resultado dos testes laboratoriais, do estado geral de saúde e da fase da vida em que se encontra a mulher sendo esta pré ou pós- menopáusica. A presente monografia pretende fazer uma revisão quanto à caracterização clínica e tratamento do cancro da mama, tendo como principal foco os diferentes fármacos biológicos actualmente utilizados enquanto terapêutica biológica. Por último, e igualmente importante, serão abordadas as investigações em curso de novos fármacos na terapêutica desta doença, possibilitando, assim, a discussão quanto a perspectivas terapêuticas futuras no âmbito do tratamento do cancro da mama.
