Aplicação de biomateriais em artroplastia

Abstract

Biomaterials are assumed to be one of the most innovative fields of Science, particularly in the areas related to Medicine where its implementation is established and expanding. The success achieved by Total Hip Arthroplasty demonstrates the revolutionary capacity of these materials, becoming essential their development with the growing demands of the population. This work intends to summarize the main characteristics of the materials used in Arthroplasty, comparing theirs advantages and disadvantages and understanding their evolution, allowing a general understanding of this area of Orthopedics, often unknown for the remaining specialties and medical students.
