A Surdez Súbita Neuro-sensorial é uma síndrome e não um diagnóstico. Habitualmente esta síndrome é referida com Surdez Súbita ou Surdez Súbita Neuro-sensorial e tem muitas etiologias possíveis. Mas na maioria dos casos, a causa é idiopática. O termo Surdez Auto-imune (SAI) implica um ataque do sistema imunológico contra um antigénio endógeno do ouvido interno, sendo o diagnóstico baseado no seu curso clínico diferente, nos resultados dos testes imunológicos, e na resposta ao tratamento. O doente deste Caso Clínico apresentava queixas de perda auditiva à esquerda, associadas a sensação de plenitude auricular, com 3 dias de evolução. O exame objectivo ORL foi negativo. Realizou audiograma, que revelou deflexão de cerca de 10 dB em duas frequências graves consecutivas, ao nível do ouvido esquerdo. Trata-se de uma situação clínica, cujo diagnóstico definitivo poderá não o ser totalmente, já que o quadro e evolução clínica da patologia oscilam entre o diagnóstico de Surdez Súbita e o diagnóstico de Surdez Auto-imune.

The Sudden Sensorineural Deafness is a syndrome and not a diagnosis. This syndrome is commonly referred to Sudden Hearing Loss or Sudden Hearing Loss Neuro-sensory and has many possible etiologies. But in most cases, the cause is idiopathic. The term Autoimmune Deafness involves an immune attack against an endogenous antigen in the inner ear, and the diagnosis was based on their different clinical course, the results of immunological tests, and response to treatment. The patient of this Case Study complained of hearing loss on the left, associated with ear fullness, with 3 days of evolution. The physical examination was negative. Audiogram performed, which revealed deflection of about 10 dB at two consecutive bass frequencies, in the left ear. It is a clinical condition whose definitive diagnosis cannot be totally definitive, since the framework and clinical evolution of the disease range from the diagnosis of Sudden Hearing Loss and the diagnosis of Autoimmune Deafness.
