Miocardiopatia peripartum

Abstract

Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a cause of pregnancy-associated heart failure. Usually develops during the last month, and up to 6 months after pregnancy in women without prior cardiovascular disease. The etiology and pathogenesis of PPCM is unknown, but several hypotheses have been proposed over the years. This review discusses the epidemiology, risk factors, etiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of PPCM.
