Abstract: The aim of this report is to analyse, based on an empirical case, a situation in which the necessity of recovering digitally produced data was concrete. I intend, therefore, to understand the advance and development of digital information and its preservation and, within this context, to examine the problematic of digital archaeology and its application. Hence, I analyse the case of the Gabinete da Área de Sines through its digital documentation, which constitutes an example of non recovered archival data whose digital data was comprised in the process of digital archeology.
