A presente investigação é composta por dois estudos: um estudo preliminar de validação do Questionário Sobre os Valores Pessoais e um estudo exploratório, baseado numa abordagem quantitativa, que teve como objectivo central analisar a relação entre os valores dos pais e dos filhos adolescentes, e a relação entre os estilos parentais educativos com os valores das referidas gerações. O estudo empírico foi realizado com 31 famílias nucleares e intactas, tendo sido composta por 57 pais e 31 filhos adolescentes com idades compreendidas entre os 15 e os 19 anos de idade. A análise quantitativa dos resultados foi efectuada através da utilização do Software Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 17.0 for Windows, tendo-se obtido os seguintes resultados: a) pais e filhos apresentaram diferenças estatisticamente significativas ao nível das dimensões Poder Social, Realização Pessoal e Espiritualidade; b) a Realização Pessoal apresentou uma diferença de género, em que os participantes masculinos, pais e filhos, obtiveram pontuações mais elevadas do que os participantes femininos, mães e filhas; c) as mães apresentaram pontuações mais elevadas na dimensão Suporte Emocional e Tentativa de Controlo; d) as dimensões Relacional, Tradicionalismo, Aventura, e Equilíbrio Pessoal, quer nos pais quer nos filhos, encontraram-se correlacionadas com as mesmas dimensões dos estilos parentais educativos; e) através da análise de grupos, das dimensões dos valores e das dimensões dos estilos educativos, verificávamos que o cluster Hedonismo engloba maioritariamente progenitores associados a um estilo Autoritário e o cluster Colectivo engloba maioritariamente progenitores associados a um estilo Autoritativo.

The present investigation comprises two studies: a preliminary validation of the Questionnaire About the Personal Values, and an exploratory study, based on a quantitative approach, which had as main goal to analyze the relationship between values of parents and teenagers, and the relationship between parenting styles with educational values of these generations. The empirical study was done with 31 nuclear and intact families, being composed by 57 parents and 31 teenagers with ages between 15 and 19 years old. The quantitative analyze of the results was done using the Software Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 17.0 for Windows, and it was obtained the following results: a) parents and their children presented statistically significant differences in terms of dimensions Social Power, Personal Achievement and Spirituality; b) the Personal Achievement showed a gender difference, in which the male participants, fathers and sons, had higher scores than the female participants, mothers and daughters; c) the mothers presented the highest scores in the dimension Emocional Support and to Attempt Control; d) the dimensions Relational, Traditionalism, Adventure and Personal Balance, either the parents or the children, found to correlate with the same dimensions of educational styles; e) through the group analyze, it is found that the Hedonism cluster involves mainly parents associated with an authoritarian style and the Collective cluster contains mostly parents associated to a authoritative style.
