Abstract

O acompanhamento psicológico promove um confronto adaptativo dos pacientes queimados com as várias fases do processo de recuperação, favorecendo a sua recuperação física, bem-estar e a qualidade de vida. O objetivo principal deste trabalho foi o de propor e avaliar um protocolo de triagem psicológica dos pacientes internados na Unidade de Queimados do Hospital de S. José – Centro Hospitalar de Lisboa Central, EPE. Foram avaliados vinte e dois pacientes utilizando uma Ficha de Dados sócio-demográficos, a adaptação da “Burns Psychology Assessment Tool”, a “Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale”, a “Impact of Event Scale” e os itens “Ânimo” e “Desconforto Emocional” da escala “Qualidade de Vida e Desconforto Emocional em Doentes Queimados”, tendo-se realizado a análise comparativa dos dados recolhidos. No que respeita à adaptação da “Burns Psychology Assessment Tool”, os resultados obtidos reforçam a utilidade da sua aplicação, em conjunto com a “Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale” e a “Impact of Event Scale”, na triagem psicológica dos pacientes desta Unidade de Queimados. Os itens “Ânimo” e “Desconforto Emocional” da escala “Qualidade de Vida e Desconforto Emocional em Doentes Queimados” não se mostraram úteis para a identificação sintomatologia depressiva e ansiosa nesta amostra de pacientes.

Psychological intervention promotes adaptative coping on burned patients during every stage of the recovery process, fostering their physical recovery, well-being and quality of life. The main objective of this study is to propose and evaluate a psychological screening protocol for inpatients of Hospital S. José – CHLC-EPE. Burn Unit. Twenty-two burned inpatients were evaluated with a socio-demographic record, a Portuguese versions of the “Burns Psychology Assessment Tool”, the “Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale” and the “Impact of Event Scale”, as well as “Mood” and “Distress” items of the scale “Quality of life and Distress in Burned Patients”, having proceeded further to a comparison of the data collected. In respect to “Burns Psychology Assessment Tool”, results have shown to be a useful methodology, in conjunction with Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and Impact of Event Scale, in psychological screening of this Unit Burn inpatients. The results demonstrated that as “Mood” and “Distress” items of the scale “Quality of life and Distress in Burned Patients” were not useful for depression and anxiety symptoms identification in this patient’s sample.
