Abstract

Este trabalho reporta um estudo centrado na figura de um diretor escolar de um agrupamento de escolas, localizado na periferia de Lisboa, com o enquadramento normativo prescrito no Decreto-Lei nº 75/2008, de 22 de abril, na leitura dada pelo Decreto-Lei nº 137/2012, de 2 de julho. A partir dos dados recolhidos através de duas fontes, uma observação não participante de um dia de trabalho do diretor escolar e uma entrevista semiestruturada, pretendeu-se compreender as perceções do diretor relativamente à diversidade dos seus papéis, bem como aos principais dilemas que se colocam no desempenho do seu cargo. Num contexto metarregulado procurou-se também perscrutar as lógicas de ação do diretor, as estratégias e os estilos de liderança mobilizados para a afirmação do projeto educativo do agrupamento de escolas. O estudo permite retratar um diretor com uma dinâmica assente nas lógicas da profissionalidade e do relacionamento interpessoal, que encontra na liderança o fator crítico para a mobilização da comunidade educativa para a missão da escola pública. Face à recentralização das políticas de educação com as agregações dos agrupamentos, o estudo permite ainda indiciar uma reconfiguração da ação (dos papéis) do diretor em consequência da parceria estratégica com o município no sentido de garantir a manutenção de franjas de liberdade para o projeto educativo do agrupamento.

This paper reports a study focused on the role of a director of a (school cluster) cluster of schools, located on the outskirts of Lisbon, regulated by Law nº 75/2008, of April 22, revised by law nº137/2012, of July 2. By analyzing the data gathered from two sources, a non-participating observation of the director's working day and a semi-structured interview, this study intends to understand the director's perceptions in relation to the diversity of his actions, as well as the major dilemmas faced while performing his tasks. In a meta-regulated context, it is also intended to scrutinize the director's logic of action, and the leadership strategies used to enforce the school cluster's educational project. The study depicted on this report portraits a director with a motivation based on the logic of professionalism and interpersonal skills, relying on leadership as the critical factor to mobilize the educational community to the mission of public schools. Given the recentralization of education policies with the aggregations of clusters, the study also indicates a reconfiguration of the director's actions (through the changes of his role), as a result of the strategic partnership with the municipality to ensure the maintenance of fringes of freedom within the cluster's educational project.
