The paper investigates how gaming interfaces and immersive technologies can expand the field of participatory urban design. Drawing from experimental applications in Mumbai and Barcelona, it explores the use of virtual and augmented reality as tools for collective spatial decision-making. By translating complex data into interactive experiences, these platforms enable citizens to engage with urban transformations in intuitive and critical ways. The research outlines both the opportunities and limitations of such approaches, emphasizing their role in fostering awareness, co-creation, and new mediations between designers, users, and institutions.
