La passione dell’odio e la violenza correttiva. Greci e Cartaginesi in Sicilia (409-396 a.C.)

Abstract

Gli sguardi sul passato e sul presente sono sempre legati tra loro e condizionati dai rapporti di forza prevalenti nelle società che li producono. Ci si sofferma sul gioco del ≪va e vieni≫ tra il passato, oggetto della narrazione, e lo sguardo che a quel passato rivolge Diodoro. E a questi due livelli inseparabili che si colloca, a mio avviso, il senso di un insieme di narrazioni relative agli assedi di Selinunte e Mozia, tra V e IV sec. a.C., che mirano a chiarire al pubblico della Biblioteca questo legame tra passato e presente. Ci si concentra sul problema del confine e della separazione: confini dissolti dall’assedio, dalla crudeltà, dall’oltraggio, dalla confusione tra dentro e fuori, tra giovani e anziani, tra donne e uomini, tra cittadini e non cittadini. L’altro obiettivo del contributo è di fornire un’analisi sui meccanismi di costruzione del “nemico metafisico” e sulla “culturalizzazione” dell’odio, tenendo conto sia dei problemi storiografici che degli aspetti socioantropologici.
