Abstract

Le città contemporanee sono oggi guardate attraverso migliaia di occhi nuovi, sia con rinnovate e più sofisticate ottiche tecniche, sia con nuove e più sensibili ottiche sociali. E il risultato non è solo una migliore e più precisa analisi delle risorse esistenti, ma soprattutto la scoperta di nuovi fattori di qualità e sviluppo. I nuovi sguardi fanno emergere preziose “riserve di resilienza” nelle città che si trovano ad affrontare le proteiche crisi in cui siamo immersi: sono luoghi di una geografia inversa indispensabili per riattivare i meccanismi vitali in evoluzione e necessarie per riprogettare le città come organismi in metamorfosi, piuttosto che come cadaveri da resuscitare o tessuti da rammendare. Sono frammenti di paesaggio agrario, lacerti infrastrutturali, quartieri in riciclo funzionale, armature di drosscapes e sistemi di brownfields, arcipelaghi sociali in ebollizione partecipativa e microcosmi produttivi in fermento produttivo. E permettono alla città di assumere forme meno rigide e più elastiche, meno resistenti all’innovazione e più adattive all’evoluzione.
