Diorami. Letteratura e cultura visuale

Abstract

Il volume prende avvio dallo studio di dodici diorami parigini di fine Ottocento e inizio Novecento provenienti da una collezione privata di Bergamo, capace di restituire un interessante spaccato della vita domestica e culturale della Parigi otto-novecentesca. Si intende così esplorare l’immaginario letterario del tempo che torna senza tregua sulle immagini in movimento messe in scena dal diorama. Da meravigliosa invenzione spettacolare parigina che risale al 1822, il diorama continuerà a catturare lo sguardo degli spettatori e dei letterati anche quando diventerà un prezioso oggetto in scatola, esposto nelle vetrine dei negozi dei passages di Parigi per attrarre i passanti ad entrare nei negozi. Pur partendo dai dodici diorami in scatola francesi provenienti da Bergamo, il volume collettaneo indaga la complessità delle variazioni del diorama nella cultura visuale e nella letteratura occidentali, evidenziando il valore di una tecnica poco nota che seppe però anticipare il cinema e la realtà virtuale, educando lo sguardo dello spettatore a orientarsi e immergersi nei nuovi spazi della modernità.
