Abstract

Il presente volume raccoglie una selezione tra i più importanti scritti, pubblicati su quotidiani e riviste, che Tommaso Fiore ha dedicato alla cultura russa, a partire dal 1910 fino all'inizio degli anni Sessanta. Tali riflessioni si declinarono perfettamente con le principali svolte storiche e culturali che caratterizzarono la sua percezione della Russia zarista e di quella sovietica: la Rivoluzione d'Ottobre, la Seconda guerra mondiale, lo stalinismo, il disgelo, il ruolo della Russia in Europa, ma anche il retaggio dei grandi classici (in particolare Tolstoj, Dostoevskij e Cechov), infine la testimonianza degli scrittori contemporanei e la loro diffusione in Italia. La selezione di articoli qui presentata permette di apprezzare, più che in altri testi, lo stile e il metodo di Tommaso Fiore, volti sempre a una ricerca del senso ultimo delle cose e delle contraddizioni presenti nell'anima russa, attraverso il principio dell'accostamento di grandi opposizioni tematiche e la definizione delle frizioni derivanti da tale accostamento.
