Il contributo ripercorre nel dettaglio la parabola italiana di Rudolf Arnheim incrociando notizie biografiche inedite di prima mano, fonti primarie e fonti secondarie e offre un quadro completo e alcune chiavi interpretative del lavoro del teorico tedesco nel periodo 1932-1938. Il contributo inoltre ricostruisce anche il contributo di Arnheim all'ambito culturale italiano anche nel periodo inglese e statunitense 1940-2007.
