Psicopatia, personalidade e expressividade emocional

Abstract

The present study aims to explore the relationships among psychopathic traits, levels of Emotional Expressivity and Personality traits. Two different models designed for non-forensic populations were used, the two-factor model of psychopathy and the Triarchic model of Psychopathy. The objectives were to evaluate differences between genders in scores obtained to all the variables in study, assessing the correlation between psychopathic traits and levels of Emotional Expressivity between subjects with Primary Psychopathy and Secondary Psychopathy, to find correlations between Emotional Expressivity, the Big Five Personality Factors and the three dimensions of the Triarchic model of Psychopathy. The sample consisted of 129 participants, 88 female and 41 male, who answered to an online questionnaire, through a link shared between colleagues. The ages of the participants were between 17 and 61 years old (M = 30.57, SD = 9.559). The results showed that there are significant differences in the levels of Total Psychopathy, Boldness, Meanness, Disinhibition and Emotional Expressivity between genders. It was observed that both factors of two-factor model correlate negatively and significantly with Emotional Expressivity. For the Triarchic Model only Meanness scale correlated significantly with Emotional Expressivity although in a positive direction. It was found that subjects with high levels of Primary or Secondary Psychopathy are less emotionally expressive than those without pathology. With regard to the Big Five Personality factos, significant results were found among the variables in study, like the positive and significant correlation of Meanness with Agreeableness and equally significant and negative relationship of Boldness with Extraversion and Openness.
