Bem-estar subjetivo e o ajustamento emocional no idoso

Abstract

A presente investigação teve como principal objetivo identificar os fatores que contribuíram para a felicidade na população idosa. Foi utilizada uma amostra de conveniência, composta por um total de 122 participantes, todos eles caucasianos. Desses indivíduos 61 estavam institucionalizados e outros 61 não institucionalizados, em que 45 são do sexo masculino e 77 do sexo feminino. Em termos de idades, era uma amostra com idades a partir dos 65 anos, apresentando as mulheres uma média de idade de 78.6 anos (DP=7.90) e os homens de 76.4 anos (DP = 6.93). Foi elaborado um protocolo de investigação composto por um questionário sociodemográfico e pelas seguintes medidas de avaliação: termómetro da felicidade, escala de satisfação com a vida, escala de florescimento, escala de felicidade subjetiva, perfil de estados de humor e escala de solidão da UCLA. Os resultados mostraram que não foi encontrado um efeito significativamente estatístico para o sexo, mas para a institucionalização. A população não institucionalizada apresenta maiores níveis de satisfação com a vida, felicidade subjetiva, cólera-hostilidade, vigor-atividade, confusão-desorientação, assim como maior capacidade de florescimento, e a de institucionalizados índices mais elevados de tensão-ansiedade e de solidão. Não foram encontradas diferenças estatisticamente significativas na felicidade último mês, na depressão-melancolia e na fadiga-inércia. Observou-se também que a satisfação com a vida, o vigor-atividade e a depressão-melancolia predizem de forma estatisticamente significativa a felicidade no último mês, tendo sido encontrado um modelo que explica 36.8% da sua variância.

This research had as main objetive to identify the factors contributed to the happiness in the elderly population. It was used a convenience sample, comprising a total 122 participants, all caucasians. These individuals 61 were institutionalized and other 61 non-institutionalized, of both sexes, in which 45 are male and 77 female. In terms of age, was a sample aged from 65 years, with women of an average age of 78.6 years (DP = 7.90) and men of 76.4 years (DP = 6.93). It was elaborated a research protocol composed or a sociodemographic questionnaire and following assessment measures: happiness thermometer, scale of satisfaction with life, flourishing scale, subjetive happiness scale, profile mood states and UCLA loneliness scale. The results showed that was not found a significantly statistical effect for sex, but for the institutionalization. The non-institutionalized population that presents higher levels of life satisfaction, subjetive happiness, anger-hostility, vigor-activity, confusion-bewilderment, as well as larger flourishing, and the institutionalized higher rates of tension-anxiety and loneliness. No statistically significant differences were found in happiness last month, in depression-dejection and fatigue-inertia. It was also observed that the satisfaction with life, vigor-activity and depression-dejection predict statistically significantly happiness last month has been found a model that explains 36.8% of the variance.
