Abstract

The aim of the present study was to distinguish the fight’s characteristics over other subjects, given certain a number of aspects in the Physical Education Curriculum. To support the literature review and to broad the scope of the investigation, was conducted an exploratory interview (Quivy & Campenhoudt, 1992) with Professor Luís Bom. We used an exploratory study in order to conduct a survey in this field of study and to facilitate the collection of data on the subject. The teachers filled out an inquiry with an enclosed structure, from which hypotheses have been raised. Some conclusions can be drawn from this study, related to the fact that, because combat sports are a field where there’s physical contact, combat sports like Fight / Judo have emerged as one of the areas in which teachers admit there is a performance improvement in behavior, respect and fair play. On the other side, combat sports are one of the matters less taught in physical education, due to lack of teacher training.
