Abstract

The present study aims to investigate what are the perceptions of the physical education teachers relatively to the interdependence of students in their classes, and if these vary according to professional experience, experience with students with Special Education Needs (SEN), level of education and number of years of professional experience at the same school. The sample consists in 212 physical education teachers, from Pre-School to high school, 115 teachers are from male gender (54%) and 97 of the female gender (46%), to who the questionnaire "the Perception of Teachers About Learning in the Classroom" (ASA-PPP, Leitão, 2012) was applied. Through parametric tests, ANOVA and T-Student, for independent samples, it was concluded that teachers have a positive perception about student-student interdependence. The perception of teachers about student-student Interdependence does not vary according to their experience, nor with the number of years of professional experience in the same school. However, there are significant differences between the perceptions of teachers with and without experience with students with SEN, since experienced teachers have a more positive perception. It was also found that the perception of teachers varies with the level of education, whereas high school teachers reveal a more positive perception towards physical education teachers from Pre-school.
