Nanotecnologia aplicada à pele

Abstract

A nanotecnologia foi introduzida nas áreas farmacêutica e cosmética, com o propósito de possibilitar o desenvolvimento de sistemas de veiculação de substâncias e para a optimização das formulações já existentes. As preparações de aplicação tópica têm elevada importância nas perspectivas terapêutica e cosmética, uma vez que a pele apresenta uma área de aplicação extensa e acessível, os efeitos sistémicos das substâncias a administrar por via tópica encontram-se geralmente reduzidos, exercendo na maioria das vezes um efeito local. Mais, a esta via estão normalmente associadas menos reacções adversas. Todavia, a pele é um órgão, dotado de um efeito barreira notável, que pode comprometer a administração de moléculas farmacológica/cosmetologicamente activas no alvo. Assim, é evidente a necessidade de conhecer a constituição da pele, pois a permeabilidade cutânea de substâncias é um desafio que só pode ser conseguido através da preparação de formulações capazes de ultrapassar essa mesma barreira. O trabalho exposto aborda sucintamente a nanocosmética, pois esta tem revelado elevados impactos económico, social e científico. A inexistência de informação sobre quais os produtos actualmente comercializados, cuja produção tenha por base a nanotecnologia, suscitaram o interesse em desenvolver uma revisão sobre esses mesmos produtos, assim como esclarecer alguns aspectos relacionados com as características da pele, que justificam o investimento e estudo exaustivo deste tipo de preparações.

Nanotechnology has been introduced in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic fields, in order to allow the development of drug delivery systems and the optimization of pre-existing formulations. The topical preparations have great importance in cosmetic and therapeutic prospects because the skin has a large area and easily accessible. Moreover, the presence of systemic effects of the pharmacological / cosmetologically active molecules topically administered are usually reduced and most of them exert a local effect. Furthermore, this route is usually associated with less number of adverse reactions. However, the skin is an organ with a remarkable barrier effect, which can compromise the administration of pharmacological / cosmetologically active molecules on target tissue. Thus, it is required to understand the structure of the skin since the skin permeability of substances is a challenge that can only be achieved through the preparation of formulations capable of overcoming this barrier. This work briefly describes the nanocosmetic mainly due the fact that this field has high economic, social and scientific impacts. The lack of information about the currently marketed products, whose production has been based on nanotechnology, has prompted a significant interest in developing a review of those products, as well as clarify some aspects related to the characteristics of the skin, to justify the investment and comprehensive study of such preparations.
