Dislexia : aprender a aprender

Abstract

Reading and writing skills are considered extremely important in current society. However, many dyslexic people can overcome school and achieve promising futures working in several fields despite their difficulties in these domains. Some researchers believe that dyslexic people are more probably to be well succeeded as they learn by conventional means, they show more creativity and develop and ability to deal with their problems in a more effective way. Having these issues in mind, we want to understand the strategies used in this process, most of times of learning to learn. The questioner was used as a mean to collect the information needed. It was answered by twenty-five individuals, although we had the ambition to have been answered by more people. By the results it was stated that “writing several times the same word as to get it right”; “follow the words with your finger” and “ stay focused to understand what was asked” are the most used strategies by the enquirers. Others used mnemonics and memorize words; using always the same colors to relate things are also used as well as the parent’s help and tutorial classes.
