Esquemas precoces adaptativos, esquemas centrais dialéticos e sintomatologia

Abstract

Early adaptive schemas (EPA) have been a construct studied in recent years. These are seen as the counterpart of early maladaptive schemas. A new approach, Dialectical Core Schema Theory, proposes that schematic functioning is organised on a continuum between two dialectical poles and that their simultaneous activation causes symptomatology. This study aims to understand the relationship between early adaptive schemas (EAS), dialectical core schemas (DCS) and symptomatology. To this end, a sample of 110 participants from the community was taken and relationships were found between EAS and DCS. In addition, the DCS of others mediates the relationship between EAS and symptomatology, while the DCS of the self is a partially significant mediator of the relationship. These results may be important in contributing to case conceptualisation and decision-making in psychotherapy. Keywords: Early Adaptive Schemas, Dialetical Core Schemas, Sintomatology
