Conrado Durántez Corral: La Academia Olímpica Española y el olimpismo

Abstract

This study reveals the genesis, creation and circumstances of the creation of the first National Olympic Academy, the Spanish one, in 1968, which stemmed from Conrado Durántez Corral's conception and scheme. With his idea in mind he took the initiative and carried out the necessary procedures to make its creation possible. Durántez Corral is currently the President of the Academy. The philosophical stance and guidelines that inspired the creation of the Spanish Olympic Academy laid the foundations for the development, evolution and many of the legacies enjoyed today by the Olympic world in Spain and throughout Latin America.
