Los últimos artesanos de la Ciudad de Barro : la organización de la producción artesanal en la ciudad de las Huacas del Sol y de la Luna

Abstract

Se hace un análisis de las relaciones sociales de la producción artesanal en la ciudad prehispánica de Huacas del Sol y de la Luna, considerada la ciudad más importante de la cultura Moche, que se desarrolló en el norte de Perú entre los siglos I y IX de nuestra era, 500 años antes de los incas. Se presenta un catálogo de los diferentes productos artesanales producidos, los talleres de producción registrados, aspectos de la cadena operativa, y se hace un análisis de los productores y los dueños de la producción. Se concluye que la producción artesanal en la ciudad de las Huacas del Sol y de la Luna fue especializada, pero con diferentes grados y tipos de especialización. Se intenta demostrar que los artesanos no constituyeron una clase social específica sino que pertenecieron a diferentes estamentos sociales, y que fueron reclutados para la producción bajo las normas de las relaciones recíprocas andinas.
