Abstract

Der Beitrag schlägt einen Bogen von den Anfängen der elektronischen Informationsverbreitung im Statistischen Bundesamt bis heute: Mit der Datenbank STATIS-BUND war es frühzeitig möglich, digital mit den Daten des Statistischen Bundesamtes zu arbeiten. Bildschirmtext (kurz: Btx) war das erste digitale Informationsmedium für die breite Öffentlichkeit, für das keine umfangreichen Programmierkenntnisse notwendig waren. GENESIS-Online wurde als Nachfolgedatenbank von STATIS-BUND technisch erheblich weiterentwickelt und ist über das Internet weltweit zugänglich. Als laufende Entwicklungen zu nennen sind EXDAT, das experimentelle Datenangebot, und das digitale Dashboard Deutschland mit seinen individuellen Nutzungsmöglichkeiten; beide Angebote werden ständig weiter ausgebaut.

This article links the beginnings of electronic information dissemination by the Federal Statistical Office with the situation as it is today. At an early stage, the STATIS-BUND database made it possible to work digitally with the data of the Federal Statistical Office. Interactive videotex was the first digital source of information for the general public that did not require extensive programming skills. GENESIS-Online, the database succeeding STATIS-BUND, has been enhanced considerably in technological terms and is accessible worldwide via the internet. Ongoing projects are the experimental data offering EXDAT and the digital Dashboard Germany with its options for customised use, both of which are being expanded continuously
