La evolución de la pobreza en Argentina: crónica, transitoria, diferencias regionales y determinantes (1995-2003)

Abstract

La evolución de los indicadores de pobreza para Argentina presentan un pronunciado deterioro en los últimos años, no uniforme en términos regionales. Utilizando datos para el período 1995-2003 la pobreza es descompuesta en sus componentes crónicos y transitorios y se analizar sus determinantes, considerando las regiones. Se obtiene que la pobreza agregada ha aumentado principalmente por un incremento de la pobreza crónica. Además, la pobreza transitoria de un hogar se asocia en mayor medida con la inserción laboral del jefe de hogar, mientras que la pobreza crónica lo hace más con las características estructurales del hogar y las diferencias regionales de estos fenómenos resultan significativas.
