Abstract

Introdução: A profissão de enfermagem nos últimos anos tem tido um especial reconhecimento a nível societal. Ser enfermeiro tem-se traduzido de especial relevância para a saúde e bem-estar das populações. Hoje reconhece-se que a profissão de enfermagem é das profissões com mais impacto nas comunidades, como se traduz em ganhos significativos para os diferentes países. Objetivos: Partindo da questão de investigação, quais são as motivações que levam os estudantes do primeiro ano do Curso de Licenciatura em Enfermagem, a quererem ser Enfermeiros? tivemos como objetivo geral conhecer as motivações que levam os estudantes do primeiro ano do Curso de Licenciatura em Enfermagem, a quererem ser Enfermeiros. Métodos: Desenvolvemos um estudo de cariz qualitativo, a 109 estudantes do 1º ano do curso de licenciatura em enfermagem. Para análise dos dados recorremos aos pressupostos conceptuais de Laurence Bardin. Resultados: Os principais achados deste estudo mostram-nos que os jovens estudantes que optam pelo curso de enfermagem anseiam pela possibilidade de poderem cuidar dos outros, revelam uma preocupação com o bem-estar dos outros, satisfação em ajudar, compreender e relacionar-se com o outro, associando ainda um elevado sentido de missão. Conclusões: Salienta-se através deste estudo, que os jovens que anseiam vir a Ser Enfermeiros, regemse por valores éticos e morais marcados pelo altruísmo.

Introduction: The nursing profession in recent years has had a special recognition at the societal level. Being a nurse has been of relevance to the health and well-being of populations. Today it is recognized that the nursing profession is one of the professions with the greatest impact on communities, as it translates into significant gains for different countries. Objectives: Starting from the research question, what are the motivations that lead students of the first year of the Degree in Nursing, to want to be Nurses? in Nursing, to want to be Nurses. Methods: We developed a qualitative study, with 109 students of the 1st year of the degree in nursing. For data analysis, we used Lawrence Bardin's conceptual assumptions. Results: The main findings of this study show us that young students who opt for the nursing course yearn for the possibility of being able to take care of others, reveal a concern for the well-being of others, satisfaction in helping, understanding, and relating to others. the other, still associating a high sense of mission. Conclusions: It is emphasized through this study that young people who yearn to become Nurses are governed by ethical and moral values marked by altruism.
