Abstract

Os actuadores lineares de indução, quer sejam planos ou tubulares, apresentam valores do factor de potência e do rendimento normalmente inferiores aos que se verificam nos seus homólogos rotativos, que geralmente são denominados motores assíncronos. No entanto, esta aparente inferioridade é compensada por outras características superiores às dos motores rotativos, como por exemplo a sua robustez e a facilidade de instalação. Uma indicação da competitividade do actuador linear de indução consiste no número de unidades comercializadas por um único fabricante do Reino Unido, desde os anos sessenta - mais de meio milhão. A simplicidade do controlo destes motores representa uma grande vantagem a ter em conta, na medida em que, devido à forma da característica mecânica, uma alimentação a frequência constante associada a vulgares contactores de potência é suficiente. A utilização da variação de tensão recorrendo a tiristores é um meio de controlo também bastante utilizado. Neste trabalho desenvolvem-se os seguintes aspectos respeitantes à teoria, ao projecto e ao ensaio de actuadores lineares de indução, na tipologia plana e, em maior pormenor, na tipologia tubular (de que resulta mais objectivamente este estudo), em que para aplicações de baixa velocidade, pode-se considerar os seguintes pontos de referência: - Campo girante; - Campo viajante; - Campos de indução magnética no entreferro, no primário e no secundário; - Parâmetros equivalentes; - Potência absorvida, potência útil, rendimento; - Força em regime estacionário (de arranque) e em regime dinâmico; - Características tensão-corrente, frequência, factor de potência; - Comparação e análise entre valores teóricos e experimentais.

The linear induction motors rarely achieve the performance, in terms of power factor or efficiency, expected from their rotary equivalents, but in several applications this reduction in performance is more than compensated by their convenience and robustness. As well as this, there are many characteristics of linear induction motors that cannot be achieved by rotary equivalents. An indication of linear motor competitiveness is that several manufactures have managed to remain in a profitable condition for many years. In the United Kingdom, for example, one manufacturer has built more than half a million linear motors since the late sixties. An advantage of linear induction motors is that for many industrial drives a very simple control circuit is possible. Due to their inherent high-resistance speed-thrust characteristic, a constant frequency main supply is often sufficient with a simple reversing contactor. Voltage control with a simple thyristor phase-control supplying variable voltage to the primary winding achieves also good results. This work presents and develops the following aspects concerning theory, design and test of linear induction motors for low speed and standstill applications, in their topologies-plane and tubular: - Rotating field; - Travelling field; - Magnetic flux density in air gap as well as in iron core; - Equivalent parameters; - Standstill force (or thrust); - Voltage-current characteristics; - Comparison between theoretical and experimental results.
