Abstract

Atualmente, a indústria de construção civil tem vindo a preocupar-se com a reutilização e reaproveitamento de certos resíduos urbanos ou industriais, de maneira a valorizar os mesmos, tendo sempre em consideração o factor económico. Um dos resíduos com grande potencial de valorização são os cascos e os recipientes de vidro. Tratando-se de um material rico em sílica, no estado amorfo, este tem demonstrado possuir reactividade pozolânica. Esta dissertação tem como objectivo desenvolver misturas de vidro e hidróxido de cálcio (cal hidratada) que resultem na formação de compostos hidráulicos. A experimentação será iniciada pela caracterização dos materiais, seguida da optimização das proporções das misturas binárias (Cal/vidro) em forma de pasta. Com base nessa optimização, serão propostas composições de argamassas de alvenaria, cujas propriedades no estado fresco e endurecido serão avaliadas em laboratório. Espera-se, com este trabalho, definir a composição óptima da mistura binária e definir as características das argamassas de alvenaria que possam atender alguns critérios definidos nas recomendações ou normas vigentes.

Currently, the construction industry has been concerned with the reuse and recycling of certain urban and industrial waste, in order to valorize them, always taking into consideration the economic factor. One of the wastes with great appreciation potential is the hulls and glass containers. Since this material is rich in silica, in the amorphous state, it has been shown to have pozzolanic reactivity. This dissertation aims the developing of glass mixtures and calcium hydroxide (hydrated whitewash) which result in hydraulic compounds. The experimentation will be initiated by the characterization of the materials, followed by the optimization of the proportions of binary mixtures (whitewash/glass) in paste form. Based on this optimization, will be proposed masonry mortars compositions, whose properties in fresh and hardened state will be evaluated in laboratory. Is expected, with this work, to define the optimum composition of the binary mixture and defining characteristics of masonry mortars that can meet certain criteria defined in the recommendations or current regulations.
