Abstract

This work begins with an initial approach of the foundations problematic and are presented some specific cases that show the importance of piles as an important foundation alternative and in some cases the most effective option. It is discussed the theoretical basics for the knowledge of the foundations design by piles under vertical loads, being ware of the strength resistance of the soils and rock bedded materials. It is presented as well the several design methods, analytic, empiric and the experimental, considering piles under vertical loads, the methodology proposed on Eurocode 7 is considered also highlighted on this work and reviewed for better understanding. Results from pile load tests are them presented, and compared with the values that where obtained by the preliminary design, them some conclusions are taken and recommendations are made.
