Extrusão de poliolefinas: melhoria contínua do processo

Abstract

Given the economic and social importance of the automotive hairdressing industry, the continuous search for improvements in the various polymer processing techniques is of paramount practical importance. This work, which is the result of an internship at the Automotive Compounding Industry company, shows a study carried out into the frequent stoppages that occur on a polyolefin extrusion line, known as line B. In this internship, methods and alternatives are sought to promote a shorter set-up time and a reduction in frequent waste on this line. Throughout this work, different methodologies used by the company are highlighted, and from them it was possible to carry out a study on line B, in order to assess whether the line was working under the best conditions. In addition, different changes of polymeric materials were studied in order to check the times between the appearance and disappearance of the purge (cause of waste) and their quantities, as well as their impact on the number of stops. Based on this study, the company implemented an improvement to the extrusion process line in order to promote an optimised quality/cost ratio in the final product.
