Abstract

This investigation intends to reflect on the theme of cultural entrepreneurship, try to understand what it consists of, if entrepreneurship, given its nature, does not have an intrinsically cultural dimension, as well as to investigate what impact cultural entrepreneurship can have on the dynamism of a city, namely in the city of Covilhã. For this purpose, two innovators and cultural studies advanced in the city of Covilhã, “A Tentadora” and “New Hand Lab”, were selected as study targets. Both projects have contributed to preserving and requalifying as identity marks for the city of Covilhã, a city of wool clearly connected with an factory industry. Still intends to reflect on the motivations and the boosters and limiting factors found in the entrepreneurial activity. Thus, the methodological delimitation consisted of a bibliographic survey and research comprising content analysis and qualitative methodologies such as observation and interviews with the mentors of these cultural projects to better understand some questions inherent to their impact on the city.
