Terapia cognitivo comportamental na depressão

Abstract

Background: About 300 million people worldwide suffer from depression, a disabling disease that causes huge social, economic and emotional costs, whose incidence has been increasing in a rampant way. In order to help therapeutic perspectives, there are some models that propose some explanations to that, despite its etiopathogenesis is not completely understood. The cognitive model assumes that maladaptive schemes that exist since childhood, when activated, lead to distorted processing and negative thoughts that generate depressive symptoms. So based on this model, cognitive behavioral therapy aims to correct distorted beliefs and thus treat patients with depression. Several studies have been shown the important role of this therapy in the rates of relapse and remission, suggesting that it is an effective therapeutic alternative for the treatment of depression. Objective: To review the relationship between cognitive behavioral therapy and depression and to analyze the effects on depressive disorder of the introduction of new technologies in this therapy. Metodology: To prepare this review, articles indexed in the PubMed database were analyzed, as well as books and studies published in scientific journals. Results: The use of new technologies in cognitive behavioral therapy proved to be effective in reducing and consequent remission of depressive symptoms, as well as in preventing relapses. Conclusions: Evidence suggests that cognitive behavioral therapy combined with electronic programs and mobile applications has a beneficial impact on depression. Therefore, this new form of therapy shall be considered as a strategy to be considered in the treatment of depression.
