Em Portugal, o turismo tem vindo a representar uma porção cada vez maior da atividade económica. Neste setor competitivo, incluindo a nível internacional, cativar o interesse dos visitantes torna-se crucial e, por isso, poder diferenciar a oferta sem incorrer em grandes custos é uma vantagem. Este mesmo princípio aplica-se também ao alojamento turístico, nomeadamente às moradias turísticas. Nesta dissertação, procuramos esclarecer o que se entende concretamente por moradia turística, tanto através do cruzamento de ideias de autores sobre os temas envolvidos (“moradia” e “turismo”) como do desenvolvimento de algumas reflexões pessoais. Investigamos também a noção de “programa funcional doméstico” e o modo como este se pode articular com métodos de análise provenientes da teoria da sintaxe espacial, para dar origem a um método útil de determinação da diferenciação espacial destas casas. O trabalho encerra-se com um ensaio de aplicação desse método de análise sintático-funcional a um conjunto de moradias turísticas representativas da realidade portuguesa, com dois objetivos: determinar a evolução da diferenciação espacial nesta tipologia e procurar perceber se existem alguns aspetos que pareçam carecer particularmente de intervenção no sentido da sua diversificação em futuras operações que envolvam a conceção de novas moradias turísticas.

In Portugal, tourism has grown to represent a large portion of all economic activity. In this competitive sector, being able to capture the visitors’ interest has become crucial. Therefore, the ability to differentiate the offering without incurring heavy expenses is an advantage. This same principle also applies to tourist accommodation, namely to moradias turísticas (tourist villas). In this dissertation, we seek to clarify what exactly the words “moradia turística” mean, both by discussing the thoughts of a few authors on the subjects involved (“villa” [“moradia”] and “tourism”) and by elaborating some reflections of our own. We also investigate the notion of a “program of domestic functions” and how these can be articulated with methods of analysis stemming from space syntax theory to develop a method for measuring spatial differentiation in these houses. We finish with an experimental application of the devised method to a set of moradias turísticas representing the Portuguese reality, with two main aims: to determine the main trends observed in this kind of building, in terms of their spatial differentiation, and to try and make some sense of those results, with a view to suggesting a few primary ways of differentiating moradias turísticas in future development operations.
