Reabilitação para equipamento social:

Abstract

This Master's Final Project begins with a reflection on the challenges of designing social equipment for the use of people from different cultures, with a strong reintegration component, considering both the urban specificities of the terrain, as well as the sociocultural characteristics of the residents in the current parish of Arroios. For this purpose, the specificities of an ancient and imposing building were considered, based on the exploration of the perception of space (matter, memory, light and colour) as a research tool in the design methodology. The building to intervene is the Palácio do Intendente Pina Manique (PIPM) which is in Largo do Intendente, in the parish of Arroios in Lisbon. This place is characterized by being an area where different ethnicities cohabit, mostly from the low-income class and in which the existence of great divergence at a social level is notorious. Initially, this building was designed to be a noble dwelling, intended for the permanent home of an upper-class family, namely Nogueira de Matos (the wife's family). With the proposal presented, it is proposed to change its use, and, for that purpose, it was necessary to analyse the composition of the building and the respective construction system. After this prior analysis, it was possible to propose the best strategies to intervene in the building, without deteriorating its original design. The rehabilitation of the PIPM included the conservation of the facades, the intention being to maintain the relationship of continuity between the old and the new, applying a contemporary use to it. In the proposed project, we sought to foster relationships between the resident population and visitors by creating several spaces that allow the realization of multiple cultural events in the arts (both plastic and performing), so that everyone perceives that they have a place to practice and foster relationships between the various communities.
