Impulsionado pela condição atual do vale de Alcântara enquanto território infraestruturado de desarticulado, o presente trabalho visa o [re]imaginar deste território, evocando a memória da ribeira de Alcântara e do vale agrícola e propondo um futuro sustentável e resiliente. No novo desenho do vale, a ribeira de Alcântara é trazida de volta à superfície, tornando-se o elemento estruturante para a projeção de um parque urbano linear, onde se privilegia a regeneração do ecossistema urbano, a produção alimentar e a prevenção de cheias. O novo parque linear é interligado ao tecido urbano existente através do desenho de uma nova frente urbana para o vale, que neste projeto é desenvolvido junto ao Bairro da Liberdade. Este projeto urbano visa o desenvolvimento de habitações de cariz sustentável, em todas as suas três dimensões: ambiental, social e económica, refletindo-se na escolha dos materiais – tijolo à vista e madeira – e na aplicação dos princípios da arquitetura bioclimática na projeção dos fogos. Driven by the current condition of the Alcântara valley as an infrastructured and unarticulated territory, the present work aims to [re]imagine this area, evoking the memory of the Alcântara stream and the agricultural valley and proposing a sustainable and resilient future. In the new layout of the valley, the Alcântara stream is brought back to the surface, becoming the structuring element for the design of a linear urban park, where the regeneration of the urban ecosystem, food production and flood prevention are prioritized. The linear park is interconnected to the existing urban fabric through the design of a new urban front for the valley, which in this project is developed near Bairro da Liberdade. This urban project aims for the development of sustainable housing – in all its dimensions: environmental, social and economic –, which is reflected in the choice of materials – exposed brick and wood – and in the application of the principles of bioclimatic architecture. This work reveals the enormous potential that the Alcântara valley represents for the city of Lisbon and the fundamental role that it could play in the future of the city, leading it towards sustainable urban development.
