This Final Master’s Dissertation Project proposes an intervention centered on the theme of urban regeneration and the reconversion of Ráfia, a building of industrial genesis with the use of activities in the sphere of economics, culture and the arts. This essay was based on a critical awareness of the constant degradation of the central core of the city of Trofa. It is therefore imperative to return this centrality “by sewing it back to the city, reflecting on the spaces resulting from a deindustrialization felt at the end of sec. XIX. In this way, the aim is to enhance this area by rehabilitating the old textile industry, Raffia and the intervention in the old railroad channel, thus promoting the textile arts and the quality public space in order to elevate the city of Trofa to a creative city. The solution presented intends to respond to the needs of the contemporary city and to foster the emerging creative economy. In order to operate on the theme of urban regeneration and to recover the memory of the place, an urban and architectural proposal was elaborated that runs through different scales. Ráfia gains form through the practical development of a proposal based on architecture, relational and sharing. Claiming to this place the status of a new center, consecrating it as a dynamic and attractive artistic-cultural pole.

O presente Projeto e Dissertação Final de Mestrado propõe uma intervenção centrada na temática de regeneração urbana e a reconversão da Ráfia, edifício de génese industrial com recurso a atividades no âmbito da economia, da cultura e das artes. Este ensaio partiu de uma consciência crítica face à constante degradação do núcleo central da cidade da Trofa. Torna-se imperativo então, devolver esta centralidade “cosendo-a de novo à cidade, refletindo sobre os espaços resultantes de uma desindustrialização sentida no final do sec. XIX. Desta forma visa-se valorizar esta zona, através da reabilitação da antiga industria Têxtil, Ráfia e a intervenção no antigo canal ferroviário promovendo assim as artes têxtis e o espaço público de qualidade a fim de elevar a cidade da Trofa a uma cidade criativa. A solução apresentada pretende dar resposta às necessidades da cidade contemporânea e potenciar a economia criativa emergente. A fim de operar sobre a temática de regeneração urbana e recuperar a memória do lugar, foi elaborada uma proposta urbana e arquitetónica que percorre diferentes escalas. A Ráfia ganha forma através do desenvolvimento prático de uma proposta assente na arquitetura, relacional e de partilha. Reclamando para este lugar o estatuto de novo centro, consagrando-o como um Pólo artístico-cultural dinâmico e atraente.
