O Livro Infantil no século XXI

Abstract

Technological innovations brought the habit of reading on mobile devices that, in the early years, raised questions about the future of the printed book. Once this issue has been overcome, it becomes necessary to look at the digital book as an additional editorial support, seeking to analyze the differences and possibilities of interaction between physical and virtual. Within this universe, we highlight the children’s book as a research object that demonstrates great potential for the future. Because it can easily transition between print and digital, children’s books are able to assimilate the advantages of these two media and integrate different modes of reading in their convergence. The investigation sought to analyze changes that the publishing market for children’s books is currently undergoing, bringing research on the recent history of design and the advent of computers and their implications; analyzes social and pedagogical character of children and children’s books; as well as the transition to the digital environment and possible links to print. It is inserted in the scope of communication design as a theoretical dissertation, having been used a non-interventionist methodology with a qualitative basis during its development. The document was organized based on a literature review, case studies and interviews with experts related to the area. The conclusion of this process allowed a better understanding of the factors involving publishing market, children’s books and digital technologies. The results obtained from this research can contribute to future studies that focus on reading in digital support for children.
