Hepatopatias secundárias : relação entre o exame ecográfico e as bioquímicas hepáticas

Abstract

ABSTRACT - SECUNDARY HEPATOPATHIES - The liver is a central organ that participates in numerous metabolic processes. As such, its integrity can be compromised by extra hepatic organic changes of all kinds. Between December 2011 and March 2014, 43% of the hepatic disorders in the canine population in AZEVET Veterinary Clinic were secondary hepatopathies. This is a significant proportion in which the distinction between primary or secondary hepatopathies can be difficult. So, the aim of this thesis was to find out a method through which the clinician can identify, with a reasonable safety, the presence of a secondary hepatopathy, as an alternative to liver biopsy, thus saving time and money that could be used in the treatment of the primary cause. Based on the echographic images and biochemical analysis from the animals in study, the association of these two parameters was held. According with Fisher statistical test, this method has significant results (p-value < 0,05) in the diagnosis of secondary hepatopathies. The sensibility was 72.2%, while the specificity was 95.8%.
