Empreendedorismo social

Abstract

Entrepreneurship is a very recent and vaguely known concept. However, inserted in a business and social economic environment increasingly demanding, the traditional nonprofit organizations nowadays put great emphasis in innovation activities in order to create social value. With the support of a literature review this investigation identifies the genesis and the characteristics of the social entrepreneurial activities. Through a qualitative analysis of the obtained data and software Nvivo, it is intended to determine the proximity between social entrepreneurship companies in Portugal and the fundamental characteristics of this activity. It is concluded that this area contributes for the success of nonprofit organizations and that its importance is increasing, and therefore should get its deserved attention as an academic and independent subject.
