ABSTRACT - Seizures represent the most common neurological disorder, representing 0.5-5.7% of the canine population and the most frequent aetiology is primary epilepsy. However, treatment impact on life quality of dogs and owners is usually neglected. In Veterinary Medicine there are only scarce studies, which lack uniformity, and therefore their comparison becomes rather complicated. Questionnaires were presented to owners of 27 dogs under seizure management to evaluate their life quality and the response rate was 77.8%. According to their answers, the main concern was the dog’s welfare, followed by the reduction of seizure’s frequency and the impact on the owner’s life style. Cost was one of the least important aspects when initiating the treatment. This research has made clear the urge to develop universal concepts and methods on the approach to the patient with seizures.
