Aplicação do modelo de crescimento florestal 3PG a povoamentos de Eucalipto na Região centro de Portugal

Abstract

Diversos esforços têm sido realizados na modelação do crescimento de Eucalyptus globulus em Portugal, pretendendo-se essencialmente que os modelos desenvolvidos sirvam como ferramentas de decisão no planeamento e gestão florestal. Os modelos mecanísticos, baseados em processos fisiológicos e em variáveis ambientais têm como mais valia a possibilidade de prever as consequências no crescimento florestal devido a alterações climáticas, o potencial produtivo de locais nunca arborizados, o crescimento de povoamentos para os quais não existem medições, os efeitos de práticas de gestão, de pragas e/ou doenças, sendo portanto, este tipo de modelos um instrumento imprescindível para uma gestão florestal cada vez mais exigente. Os modelos de base fisiológica requerem um grande número de parâmetros iniciais difíceis de obter o que torna a sua aplicação pouco prática. No presente trabalho é apresentada a aplicação de um modelo híbrido constituído pelo modelo de base fisiológica 3PG, modelo que requer um número de parâmetros mais restrito e fáceis de obter, adaptado com o modelo Globulus 2.1. O estudo foi realizado em povoamentos de E. globulus em duas bacias hidrográficas na Serra de Caramulo, Portugal. Neste trabalho é apresentada a calibração do modelo para Portugal e o tratamento estatístico dos resultados. Os primeiros resultados evidenciam um bom comportamento geral deste modelo híbrido, no que diz respeito a sua capacidade preditiva de volume e biomassa, em qualquer um dos seus modos de simulação
