Relação entre Indicadores de Pobreza e Percepções de Pobreza

Abstract

In 2010, a new anti-poverty policy was defined in European Union by the Europe 2020 strategy. Eurostat defined three indicators to measure the phenomenon of social exclusion: 1) the number of people considered "at risk of poverty", 2) the number of materially deprived persons and 3) the number of people aged 0-59 living in a low work intensity household. This paper supported by a case study, aims to conclude if the material deprivation indicators defined by Eurostat fit the reality of the Portuguese who lives in poverty.
