A Gestão das Marcas: O caso das marcas

Abstract

In the twenty-first century, the brand management became a priority for top management in any organization. The literature review demonstrates that commercial brands are the most exploited, being the political brands poorly represented. However, with the emergence of high consumption societies, political parties have become more marketing oriented. Once brands are part of day-to-day consumer behavior, it is possible that political parties act and voters make choices similar to how consumers choose trademarks. This thesis attempts to perceive the explanatory factors of the political brands in Portugal through the application of a recognized model. The collection of quantitative data was held using a convenience sample. The results obtained through a multivariate analysis showed that perceived quality, loyalty and reputation and brand associations have a direct positive effect on brand equity in the partisan landscape in Portugal, being loyalty the variable with greatest impact on political brand equity. Thus, it has been demonstrated the applicability of a model typically used in the study of trademarks to political brands, becoming clear that the management of any type of mark should be a constant concern in all organizations, even political parties.
