Trabalho infantil: representações sociais nos media

Abstract

Child labour is a global phenomenon that violates fundamental rights of children arming their health and their mental, physical, social and moral as well as depriving them from attending school or forcing them to an early exit. In this thesis beyond the conceptual framework and legal framework essential to defining the phenomenon we will consider the social representation of child labour in the Portuguese media over the years of 2008 based on the selected categories such as "Region", "Sex ", "Age" and "Activity Sector. " To this end we used a 'mixed' methodology quantitatively and qualitatively. The main conclusions of this study indicate the following: seasonal trend of performance, linked to school holidays, the dominance at housework and artistic work; predominant age group from 14 to 17 years, higher incidence in northern territory; negative social valuation
