True to his nature, as a social being, Man seeks to satisfy his needs to relate to others. The basis of these relationships is fostered in public spaces, places of excellence in improving the quality of urban life, of relief from stress, pollution, interlaced roads above roads, the buildings endless seeking to reach the sky. A coherent design, aided by a set of guiding principles presents itself as the key to the structure and organization of the city, making it easier to the people that crosses and it depends on it to read it and perceive it, enabling the referencing of the various spaces that comprise it. Thus, was elaborated a Public Space Design Evaluation Matrix, where the vectors described should be considered when designing the intervention area, benefiting the relationship between user and space, in order to conceive spaces that are able to please the needs of their users and reinforcing social ties so vital to the personal development of man. The requalification of the street Alferes Barrilaro Ruas was guided by these principles, seeking to give life to a space where the redefinition of the pedestrians movement spaces became priority when they ‘re confused with motor vehicles spaces.
