Abstract

Numa época em que a tecnologia domina cada vez mais as nossas vidas e as questões ambientais ganham uma importância fulcral, é necessário questionarmos a qualidade dos objectos que a sociedade produz e consome. É através desta preocupação que surge o tema para a presente dissertação - embalagens sustentáveis para brinquedos - bem como da intenção de, como designer, em início de actividade profissional, ter um papel activo que permita contribuir para alterar esta situação. Pretende-se com esta investigação compreender qual a dimensão do problema de excesso de RSU (Resíduos Sólidos Urbanos), particularmente o que está relacionado com as embalagens de brinquedos, e tentar encontrar uma forma de contribuir para a resolução desse problema e para a consciencialização do comportamento irresponsável que se assiste por parte da sociedade. Sendo este um campo muito vasto, limita-se este trabalho à concepção de um protótipo de uma embalagem para brinquedos de crianças na faixa etária compreendida entre os quatro e os seis anos de idade. De forma a desenvolver este estudo é fundamental uma investigação teórica sobre o tema de forma a sustentar as ideias a serem aprofundadas. O protótipo da embalagem será desenvolvido em colaboração com a empresa portuguesa CLASSICTOYS, o que permitirá através de testes com um grupo de amostra, saber se o produto elaborado é realmente eficiente, tanto como embalagem como elemento transmissor de uma consciência ecológica.

At a time when technology increasingly dominates our lives and environmental issues are of crucial importance, it is necessary to question the quality of the products that the society generates and consumes. It is due to this concern that the theme for this thesis - sustainable packaging for toys - arises, as well as the intention, as a designer in the beginning of occupation to have an active role in order to contribute to change this situation. The objective of this research is to better understand the extent of the problem of excess urban solid waste, particularly which is related to the packaging of toys, and try to find a way of solving this problem and to raise awareness of the irresponsible behavior we are witnessing from our society. Since this is a vast field, the work is limited to the design of one prototype package of toys for children aged between four and six years old. In order to develop this study it is fundamental a theoretical research on the topic to support the ideas to be deepened. It is part of the objective to develop a prototype of a package in collaboration with the Portuguese company CLASSICTOYS, which allows the testing of one sample group, learning the efficiency of the product produced, as well as, the package as an element capable of sparking an ecological consciousness.
