Efeitos Macroeconómicos da Rigidez Nominal e da Concorrência Imperfeita numa Semi-pequena Economia Aberta

Abstract

Since J. M. Keynes' "General Theory" came out, "nominal rigidity" has been a main issue in macroeconomic research. The present work studies the macroeconomic effects of the costs of changing posted prices, under monopoly both in good and labour markets. First, we present a microeconomic foundation, based on the existence of menu costs, that agents - in this case one firm and one family - do not always change their announced prices in the presence of external shocks. Then, we analyse the resultant macroeconomic equilibria and how they are affected by changes in economic policy, international environment, external shocks or in the agent's expectations.
