A sazonalidade da actividade turística como oportunidade de mercado

Abstract

A sazonalidade da actividade turística é uma realidade que, vulgarmente considerada como incontornável, se caracteriza por uma série de problemas associados e por inadequada abordagem estratégica, onde predomina a apatia. O presente trabalho, versa sobre novas formas de abordagem estratégica para os agentes públicos e privados, que a transformem de um factor restritivo de mercado, para um factor de novas oportunidades de exploração de negócio, onde Portugal desempenhe num palco onde detém vantagens face aos seus concorrentes directos. Com base nas características da actividade turísticas nas épocas média e baixa e das particulares de Portugal, bem como das experiências de alguns países, ainda que conscientes da permanência de períodos de menor intensidade, propõe-se como modelo estratégico mais adequado à abordagem das épocas em causa, o baseado na combinação da segmentação de mercado por motivações/actividades e por factores sócioeconómicos, em conjugação com a intervenção ao nível do compósito de produto no proporcionar de benefícios diferentes ao longo do ano. Considera-se ainda que Portugal tem vantagens competitivas específicas para aplicação deste modelo, das quais se destaca o clima e a praia.
